Dr Akello Susan Adakun is a physician in the Department of Medicine at Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital, Kampala, one of the COVID-19 treatment centers in Uganda. She is an internal medicine specialist by training with interest in pulmonology and currently heads the Tuberculosis unit. Her role in the pulmonary division includes; clinical care to in/outpatients, teaching undergraduates/postgraduates and tuberculosis related research. She is currently a senior trail physician with STREAM trial – a large scale multi-country MDR-TB clinical trial. She was awarded a certificate of exemplary performance of the 2015-2016 American Thoracic Society (ATS) Global Scholars program in pulmonology. She is currently a research fellow at Makerere University Lung institute (MLI) where she offers consultation services for referred patients to the chest clinic. She is also affiliated to the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) where she is involved in running research projects. She recently enrolled for clinical rotation at Yale school of medicine to observe Pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.
